Upcoming Games in October 2026: Every Release Date

October 2026 is built around four big launches: Gears of War: E-Day on 6 October, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse on 15 October, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on 23 October and Phantom Blade Zero on 29 October. Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve opens the month on 2 October, and 15 October is the busiest single day, with a new Castlevania, a Crimson Desert expansion and three games leaving Early Access.

Every date on this page was checked on 27 September 2026 against a publisher announcement, an official store page or Steam's own store data; where only a trade outlet confirms a date, we name it. We started from the October section of Wikipedia's list of 2026 releases and dropped anything we could not confirm somewhere more direct. We will re-check the list every Sunday until the end of the month and log each change at the bottom of the page.

Which big games come out in October 2026?

The table lists the releases with the most pre-release attention or the biggest franchises behind them, in date order. Prices are US standard editions where a store lists one; a dash means the page we checked showed no price yet. "PC (Steam)" means we confirmed the Steam version only, not that the game is PC-exclusive, so check the publisher's page for console versions.

Which October games are people following most?

IGDB counts how many of its users follow a game before release, a figure it calls "hypes". It is a rough gauge: IGDB's users are enthusiasts, and a follow costs nothing. But it is public and comparable across publishers, which pre-order numbers are not, so it is the best free signal of which October games core players are watching.

Phantom Blade Zero leads with 212 follows, almost twice Gears of War: E-Day on 109. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 sits ninth on 44, which says more about who uses IGDB than about the size of Call of Duty's audience. Treat the ranking as a measure of curiosity among dedicated players, not a sales forecast. End of Abyss is the one game in the top ten whose 1 October date we could not confirm on a store page, so it is not in the main table yet.

What comes out in the first two weeks of October?

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is the only big launch of the opening week. Bandai Namco's Steam announcement gives 2 October for all players, with three days of early access from 29 September for Digital Deluxe Edition pre-orders. The Steam store page lists the standard edition at $69.99. The same day, 29 September, The Witcher 3 Remastered arrives as a free update for existing owners of CD Projekt Red's RPG.

Gears of War: E-Day arrives on 6 October on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. Xbox's page confirms it is on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from launch, prices the Standard Edition at $69.99 and the Premium Edition at $99.99, and gives Premium owners up to five days of early access. Star Wars: Galactic Racer shares the 6 October date and is listed on Steam at $59.99. On 8 October Square Enix releases Kingdom Hearts Collection [I–III] on Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, as Gematsu reported at the announcement; Nintendo's store listing shows it running from the first game to Kingdom Hearts III and its Re Mind DLC, and the Square Enix Store prices it from $74.99. Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival lands the same day, listed on Steam at $39.99.

Dragon's Dogma 2 gets its Dark Arisen expansion on 9 October. Capcom's pre-order announcement sells it two ways: as a bundle with the base game, and as standalone expansion DLC for people who already own Dragon's Dogma 2.

Why is 15 October the busiest day of the month?

The middle week starts quietly. Planet Zoo 2 ($49.99 on Steam) and Valor Mortis both arrive on 13 October, and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 follows on 14 October. Then five releases worth knowing about stack up on Thursday 15 October.

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is Konami's headline release, listed at $29.99 on Steam. A demo arrives on 1 October, VGC reported, and our Castlevania 40th anniversary report covers the Steam discounts on older Castlevania games that end the same day. Pearl Abyss also releases Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown, an expansion for Crimson Desert, which is listed on Steam as Crimson Desert Enhanced.

Three games leave Early Access the same day. Enshrouded reaches 1.0 after entering Early Access in January 2024. Frosthaven's developers said in June that the price will go up once the full version is out; Steam lists it at $39.99 today. Ratatan reaches 1.0 "after nearly a year in Early Access", in its developer's words, with pre-orders open for Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

A day later, on 16 October, Capcom brings Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition to Switch 2, Nintendo Life reports. Cloud versions of Resident Evil 2 and 3 were previously released on the original Switch.

What releases in the last two weeks of October?

Square Enix's Final Fantasy Resonance arrives on 22 October, listed on Steam at $49.99. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort launches on Switch 2 the same day, according to Nintendo's US store; the announcement text quoted by GoNintendo invites players back to Wuhu Island, the setting of Wii Sports Resort.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 follows on Friday 23 October. Activision's announcement lists PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC, where it is sold through Battle.net, Xbox on PC and Steam; the Steam standard edition costs $69.99.

Two Switch 2 releases share 27 October. Minecraft gets its Switch 2 version that day, and our Minecraft Live report covers what else is coming to the game. Hell Is Us has moved its Switch 2 port to the same date, citing "logistical and distribution issues" in a statement reported by Insider Gaming, and its next major update on every platform moves with it. Remothered: Red Nun's Legacy is also listed on Steam for 27 October.

Phantom Blade Zero closes the month on 29 October on PS5 and PC. S-GAME originally announced 9 September at The Game Awards 2025; the PlayStation Blog now gives 29 October, or 28 October in the US and select regions. The Wolf Among Us Remastered is listed on Steam for 29 October as well.

Why does Steam show some October games a day early?

Several Steam store pages, read with a US store region, show a date one day before the publisher's announcement. The PlayStation Blog spells out the pattern for Phantom Blade Zero: 29 October, with a footnote that it is 28 October in the US and select regions. The same one-day gap appears for the four games below, so check the store page in your own region for the exact unlock time.

Can you play any October games early?

Two of the big releases sell early access with their pricier editions. Ace Combat 8's Digital Deluxe Edition unlocks on 29 September, three days before launch, according to Bandai Namco. Gears of War: E-Day's Premium Edition ($99.99) gives up to five days of early access, so its owners can start as early as 1 October. Castlevania: Belmont's Curse takes a different route, with a demo on 1 October.

Which October dates could still change?

Three dates on this list have already moved once: Phantom Blade Zero (from 9 September), Ratatan (postponed to 15 October in June) and the Hell Is Us Switch 2 port (now 27 October). None of the headline launches has shown signs of slipping on the official pages we read, but a month is a long time in a release calendar, and we will update the table if anything moves.

We also left some October dates off because we could not confirm them outside Wikipedia's list. Mycopunk's 1.0 is the clearest case: Wikipedia puts it on 20 October, but the developer's own roadmap post answers "When is 1.0?" with "Whenever we say it is", and none of its Steam posts since has given a date. The Switch 2 versions of Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II, listed for 1 October, and End of Abyss are waiting for a store page we can read.
