PS Plus Extra and Premium October 2026: Mafia: The Old Country, Horizon Forbidden West and Mycopunk

Sony has confirmed October 2026's PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium additions on the PlayStation Blog: Mafia: The Old Country, Horizon Forbidden West and a day-one launch for Mycopunk lead seven Game Catalog games, while Premium members also get Dino Crisis 2 and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition. Most of the lineup goes live on Tuesday 20 October, with three games following on 27 October in the US, UK and Japan.

Below, every game is listed with its date, platforms, Metascore and Steam user rating as checked on 15 October 2026, so you can see what is worth the download before the catalog updates. Steam figures come from each game's PC version, the closest public measure of player opinion; PS Store star ratings are not included.

Regional dates come from Sony's post and Push Square's breakdown of the staggered rollout. Sony notes that lineups may differ by region, so check the PlayStation Store on the day.

Which October PS Plus games are the best reviewed?

On critic scores, Horizon Forbidden West (Metascore 88) and Tales of Arise (87) are the strongest picks, and both also hold Very Positive Steam ratings above 86%. The Midnight Walk has the best player score of the batch, 93.0% positive from 2,982 Steam reviews, and it is already playable: Sony added it on 14 October in the US and UK, a day before Japan.

Mafia: The Old Country is the most divisive headliner. Its Metascore of 73 from 85 critic reviews sits close to its Mostly Positive 73.1% on Steam. Eurogamer's catalog write-up points out that it drops the series' open-world wrapper for a more focused structure, which is worth knowing before you download it. At the bottom of the list, Monster Energy Supercross 25 is rated Mixed on Steam at 51.8% from only 361 reviews.

Mycopunk 1.0 launches straight into the Game Catalog

Mycopunk is the only day-one release this month. Sony says it arrives in the Game Catalog worldwide on 20 October, and Eurogamer reports that its 1.0 version goes live the same day, ending more than a year in Steam Early Access. The four-player co-op looter shooter from Pigeons at Play and Devolver Digital entered Early Access on Steam on 10 July 2025 and holds an 88.4% positive rating from 4,774 reviews.

At $14.99 it is also the cheapest Extra game to buy outright on Steam. Because co-op shooters depend on a healthy player base, a PS5 launch inside the subscription is a meaningful moment for it; we have opened a Mycopunk hub and will track the 1.0 launch there.

Horizon Forbidden West returns, Mafia arrives for the first time

Horizon Forbidden West is a return rather than a debut: VGC notes it was removed from the Game Catalog in 2024. Mafia: The Old Country, released in August 2025, is joining the service for the first time, according to Eurogamer.

Bought individually on Steam at today's list prices, the seven Extra games would cost $274.93. Treat that as a rough guide: Steam sells Horizon Forbidden West as the Complete Edition while Sony lists it simply as Horizon Forbidden West, the PS Plus version of Tales of Arise is the Beyond the Dawn Edition while the $49.99 Steam price is for the base game, and Mafia: The Old Country is currently discounted to $29.99 on Steam.

What PS Plus Premium members get

Premium adds two older games on 20 October: Capcom's PS1-era Dino Crisis 2 and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition, both on PS5 and PS4. Premium members also get Game Trials of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and Mortal Shell II from the same day, and Sony is running Horrorfest offers for all PS Plus members alongside the update.

What we don't know yet

Sony's post does not list which games leave the Game Catalog this month, and it does not say whether the Horizon Forbidden West listing includes the Burning Shores expansion. Dates for the 27 October games outside the US, UK and Japan are also unconfirmed. We will update this article if Sony clarifies any of these points.
