Phantom Blade Zero unlocks at 02:00 UTC on Thursday 29 October 2026, the same moment on Steam and the PlayStation Store. In the US that is 7pm PT or 10pm ET on Wednesday 28 October, which is why American store pages show the 28th while S-GAME's own announcements say the 29th.

This guide is built from the release timestamps on the Steam and US PlayStation Store listings, the official system requirements on Steam, Valve's Steam Deck compatibility data, NVIDIA's launch driver notes and S-GAME's announcements, all checked on 25 October 2026. Preload and file size details come from a leak and are labelled as such. Nobody outside S-GAME has published performance tests yet, so there are no frame-rate claims here beyond the developer's own targets.

When does Phantom Blade Zero unlock in my time zone?

Both stores list the same release instant, so the table below converts 02:00 UTC on 29 October into local times. Note the clocks: the UK and Europe will already be back on winter time, while the US stays on daylight saving time until 1 November.

Why does the US store say 28 October?

Because 02:00 UTC on the 29th is still the 28th across the Americas. S-GAME's June letter from the creative director moved the game from 9 September to 29 October, and the launch trailer announcement reported by Gematsu still says 29 October. The Steam US page reads "Oct 28, 2026" and NVIDIA's driver notes also say 28 October, because both are written from an American point of view. It is one global launch, not two.

Can you preload Phantom Blade Zero, and how big is it?

Probably yes on PS5, from 27 October, but that comes from a leak rather than S-GAME. The fan account PlayStation Game Size reported a PS5 download of 134.857 GB with preloading from 27 October, as Notebookcheck summarised; the r/PS5 thread on it passed 400 upvotes. Neither S-GAME nor Sony had confirmed the figures when we checked.

On PC there is no official number to quote. Unusually, the Steam requirements list no storage line at all, only "SSD installation required" at both tiers. If the PS5 figure is any guide, clear well over 130 GB of SSD space before launch day and you will not be caught out.

Phantom Blade Zero PC requirements

These are the official minimum and recommended specs from the Steam store page. Both tiers assume upscaling is switched on, which matters more than any single component in the list.

What do the PC specs actually tell you?

Three things. First, the frame-rate targets are modest and both include upscaling, so a recommended-spec PC is expected to reach 1440p/60fps with an upscaler doing part of the work, not at native resolution. Second, 16 GB of RAM is the floor at both tiers. Third, the SSD line appears at both tiers, so a hard drive is not a supported install target.

The Steam page also states that the game incorporates Denuvo, the third-party anti-tamper DRM. It is a single-player game with Steam Cloud saves, achievements, full controller support and Family Sharing, and the store marks it "Gamepad Recommended". The interface is offered in 15 languages, with full audio in English and Simplified Chinese.

Does Phantom Blade Zero have ray tracing and DLSS?

Yes, on PC. NVIDIA's Game Ready driver post of 20 October says the game launches with DLSS 4.5, including Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, plus path-traced lighting and effects cleaned up by DLSS Ray Reconstruction. Back in January, NVIDIA's CES 2026 announcement described PC-exclusive ray-traced reflections, shadows and caustics. If you have a GeForce card, install that driver before the unlock.

S-GAME's creative director wrote in June that the team spent extra effort making the game look right without ray tracing, which is a useful signal for anyone on a minimum-spec card. What nobody has documented yet is how path tracing performs on real hardware, or which upscalers AMD and Intel owners get at launch. We will add that once independent tests exist; until then, our roundup of Phantom Blade Zero's review scores covers what critics said about performance.

Is Phantom Blade Zero on Steam Deck?

You can buy it on Steam and try it on a Deck, but Valve has not rated it. On 25 October 2026 Steam's compatibility service returned no category for the game: not Verified, not Playable, not Unsupported. Steam lists Windows as the only platform, so on Deck it would run through Proton, and Denuvo plus an official minimum target of 1080p/30fps with upscaling on a GTX 1660 are reasons to wait for Valve's rating or player reports rather than assume it will run well.

What about PS5: disc, Pro and other consoles?

The PS5 version is digital-only at launch. With the launch trailer, S-GAME announced that physical Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate editions for PS5 will follow in 2027, Gematsu reported. The PlayStation Store listing carries the PS5 Pro Enhanced label, though S-GAME has not detailed what the Pro mode changes.

There is no Xbox or Switch 2 version. The small print on the December 2025 release date trailer said the game will not come to other consoles until at least 12 months after release, as Push Square noted. That is a floor, not a promise of a port.

Which edition should you pre-order?

There are two digital editions. The Deluxe Edition adds two outfits and two digital extras; S-GAME has not said whether those outfits do anything beyond looks. The pre-order bonus is the same for both and, according to the store text, its items can also be earned by playing.

Phantom Blade Zero digital editions (Steam US and PlayStation Store US listings, checked 25 October 2026)
EditionPrice (Steam US)What you get
Standard$59.99The base game
Digital Deluxe$69.99Base game, Wulin Legend and Blood-Steel Form outfits, digital artbook, digital soundtrack
Pre-order bonus (both)IncludedTreasure Basin accessory (+10% Remnant Dust drop rate) and Legacy outfit early; both obtainable in-game later

Unless you want the artbook and soundtrack, the Standard Edition gets you the whole game. The $10 extra buys the two Deluxe outfits and the two digital extras listed above.

What to check before launch night

  1. Note your local unlock time from the table above, and check your own store page if you are outside the US.
  2. Free up SSD space: about 135 GB on PS5 if the leaked figure holds, and assume something similar on PC.
  3. On a GeForce PC, install NVIDIA's 20 October Game Ready driver.
  4. On Steam Deck, wait for Valve's rating or early reports unless you are happy to rely on the refund window.

For everything else we publish on the game, including launch-week guides, see our Phantom Blade Zero hub. If you are deciding what else to play this month, our October 2026 release list puts Phantom Blade Zero alongside Modern Warfare 4, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse and the rest of the month's launches.

FAQ

What time does Phantom Blade Zero release?

Steam and the US PlayStation Store list the unlock at 02:00 UTC on Thursday 29 October 2026. That is 7pm PT and 10pm ET on Wednesday 28 October, 2am GMT and 3am CET on 29 October, and 11am in Japan.

Can I preload Phantom Blade Zero?

On PS5, preloading has been reported to start on 27 October with a download of about 134.9 GB, based on PlayStation backend data shared by a fan account. S-GAME has not announced preload details itself, so treat both numbers as reported, not official.

Can my PC run Phantom Blade Zero?

The official minimum is an Intel Core i7-8700K or Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1660 6GB or RX 5500 XT 8GB, aimed at 1080p/30fps with upscaling. The recommended RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT targets 1440p/60fps, also with upscaling. An SSD is required.

Is Phantom Blade Zero Steam Deck verified?

Not yet. As of 25 October 2026, Valve's compatibility service returns no rating for the game, so it is neither Verified nor Playable. Check the Steam store page after launch for an official rating.

Is Phantom Blade Zero coming to Xbox?

Not at launch. Small print in the December 2025 trailer said it would not be on other consoles until at least 12 months after release, so PS5 and PC are the only options until at least late 2027.
