GTA 6: Everything We Know About the Release Date, Price and Map

Grand Theft Auto VI comes out on Thursday 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to Rockstar's official site. It costs $79.99 for the Standard Edition, ships in boxes that contain a download code rather than a disc, and has no PC version announced.

This tracker collects only what Rockstar, Take-Two and the platform stores have confirmed, plus reporting from established outlets, each linked where it appears. Rumours and leaks are left out unless they are labelled. Checked against Rockstar's site and the US PlayStation Store on 12 October 2026; we update it as Rockstar adds detail before launch.

When does GTA 6 come out, and has it been delayed?

The current date is 19 November 2026, and it has held for almost a year. Rockstar announced it on 6 November 2025, when it delayed the game for the second time, apologising for "adding additional time" to the wait, as reported by VGC. Take-Two chief executive Strauss Zelnick confirmed the date in the company's results the same day.

The game was first promised for 2025, then moved to 26 May 2026, then to November. Here is how the dates have moved, from the first trailer to launch.

What time does GTA 6 unlock?

Rockstar has not published a global unlock schedule. The US PlayStation Store listing shows 19 November 2026 at 05:00 UTC, which is midnight in New York and 06:00 in Central Europe. Treat that as the US PlayStation time only: Xbox and other regions have not shown a time, and pre-orders themselves opened at midnight local time in each region.

Which platforms is GTA 6 on, and is it coming to PC?

Only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch. Rockstar's site carries a "Plays best on PlayStation 5" banner, and the PlayStation Store marks the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced, without saying what the Pro version adds. There is no PS4 or Xbox One version. Xbox has also ruled out a back door: its strategy chief said the game will not stream to PC through Xbox Cloud Gaming, as we covered in our report on the streaming rights story.

A PC version has not been announced or ruled out. GTA 5 reached PC about 19 months after its 2013 console launch, while a GamesBeat report puts GTA 6 on PC in Q1 2027. Neither is a promise.

How much does GTA 6 cost, and which edition should you buy?

There are two editions. The Standard Edition is $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition is $99.99 on the US PlayStation Store. Rockstar describes the Ultimate content as premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and "action" threaded through Jason and Lucia's story, but has not listed every item. PC Gamer noted that the Standard Edition is $10 dearer than other big-budget launches at the time and that the Ultimate upgrade will probably be sold separately later. The PlayStation Store already lists an "Ultimate Edition Upgrade" add-on, though it cannot be pre-ordered yet.

The pre-order bonus, the Vintage Vice City Pack, includes a two-tone '55 Vapid Stanier sedan with a garage at Ocean Beach, outfits and hairstyles for both characters, and a weapon pattern, according to Rockstar. It applies to purchases made before the end of 19 November.

The free month of GTA+ needs a closer read. The perks Rockstar lists, including a monthly GTA$500,000 deposit, Shark Card bonuses and discounted vehicles, are for GTA Online characters, plus access to the GTA+ Games Library. The PlayStation Store terms say the month must be redeemed by 31 March 2027 and then renews monthly at the regular price until cancelled.

Is there a GTA 6 disc version?

Not at launch. Rockstar's pre-order announcement, quoted by Push Square, says physical copies contain a code for the digital download and that "a disc will not be included in the box". Those boxes go on sale on 12 November so buyers can pre-load. VGC linked the decision to Rockstar's history of leaks, which is the outlet's reading rather than Rockstar's stated reason. Take-Two has denied an earlier report that a proper disc release would follow later.

In practice, a boxed copy needs an internet connection and enough storage on day one, exactly like a digital purchase. Rockstar has not published the download size.

Where is GTA 6 set, and how big is the map?

GTA 6 takes place in the fictional state of Leonida and marks what Rockstar calls a return to modern-day Vice City. In Game Informer's September cover story, Rockstar's Aaron Garbut called Leonida roughly twice the size of GTA 5's map and the studio's biggest. It is split into six regions, has local weather including tropical storms and hurricanes, and more than 170 animal species. No official area in square kilometres exists. Figures you see online are fan or press estimates based on trailer footage.

Who are the main characters?

You play as Jason and Lucia, the pair at the centre of Rockstar's own copy for the game; even the pre-order bonus includes outfits and hairstyles for both. Rockstar has not published a full cast list or said how switching between the two works, so treat detailed plot claims as speculation until launch.

What do we know about the radio and music?

Rockstar has named six stations so far: Cocoteo FM, Back Country Radio, AfroBank FM, The Chamber 106.6, Flash FM and Dirty South Classics. For the first time in the series, radio and on-demand podcasts can be heard on foot through headphones connected to the characters' phones, according to Rockstar's music page. What is GTA 6 rated?

ESRB M (Mature 17+) in the US, PEGI 18 in the UK and R 18+ in Australia, with descriptors covering strong sexual content, nudity, drugs and intense violence. How many GTA 6 trailers are there?

Rockstar's site hosts three official videos: Trailer 1, Trailer 2 and "An Extended Look". Trailer 1 went out on 4 December 2023, a day early, after it leaked. The Extended Look broke with tradition: it premiered on Netflix on 27 August 2026 before reaching Rockstar's YouTube channel hours later. Rockstar has not announced another trailer or a gameplay showcase before launch, despite plenty of speculation on r/GTA.

What don't we know yet?

• A PC release date, or whether one is planned.
• How online play will work in GTA 6. Rockstar's GTA 6 site does not describe an online mode, and the GTA+ perks it lists refer to GTA Online.
