Persona 6 Adds Switch 2 — Still No Release Date

Persona 6 is real, announced and now confirmed for five platforms — and it still has no release date. Atlus and Sega revealed the next mainline Persona at Microsoft's showcase on 7 June 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows and Steam, day one on Game Pass; a Nintendo Switch 2 version followed in the Nintendo Direct of 9 September 2026. What nobody has given it, in three months of announcements, is a date. Steam's own release field reads "To be announced".

That absence is the story. Sega and Atlus spent September adding hardware to the game rather than narrowing its window, and the Persona 6 hub now lists more platforms than facts.

What has Atlus actually confirmed about Persona 6?

The reveal landed at the Xbox Games Showcase on 7 June 2026, with Xbox Wire's recap listing Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, cloud, Game Pass inclusion and Xbox Play Anywhere support. Sega's own press release followed the next day in Japan, headlined "Persona 6, The Latest Mainline Entry in the Persona Series Announced!" — the 7th in the West, the 8th JST, which is why you will see both dates cited as the announcement.

The credits are deliberately thin. Sega's release names only P-Studio, inside Atlus, as developer, with Sega publishing. No director, composer or character designer has been attached to the project in any official document, and the teaser shown at the showcase contained no protagonist, no city and no combat.

What Atlus has said about the game itself comes from its own Steam page, which describes a completely fresh, standalone story with a new cast and puts the series at over 30 million copies sold worldwide. That figure belongs to Atlus's store copy rather than to any named executive. The same page's release date field is the one everybody keeps refreshing: "To be announced".

Persona 6 is coming to Nintendo Switch 2

The Switch 2 version arrived in the 9 September Nintendo Direct under the spotlight framing "Two Persona Games Are Coming to Nintendo Switch 2". Nintendo's own write-up repeats the standalone-story-and-new-cast description and attaches no date to it. Sega's Japanese press release covering both Switch 2 versions is dated 10 September JST; Gematsu reported the addition the same day it aired.

It matters more than a platform bullet usually would. This is the first time a mainline Persona has been announced for Nintendo hardware at reveal rather than ported there years later. The other Persona in that Direct, Persona 4 Revival, came with dates: 18 February 2027 on PS5, Xbox and PC, then 20 May 2027 on Switch 2. Persona 6 got neither.

When is Persona 6 coming out?

There is no date and no window from any official source. Steam says "To be announced", Nintendo's listing carries nothing, and the official site lists the five platforms and Game Pass without a year attached to any of them.

Tokyo Game Show was the obvious place for that to change, and it did not. Sega and Atlus took their largest-ever booth to Makuhari Messe for the 17–21 September show — 16 titles and 27 stage programmes — with Persona 4 Revival and the Metaphor: ReFantazio Switch 2 port as the playable Atlus games. Xbox's own TGS broadcast recap on 17 September did not date it either.

For now Persona 6 joins a small category of games that are fully announced, fully platformed and completely undated — the same position Forza Horizon 6's PlayStation 5 port is in, from the opposite direction. We will update this piece when Atlus puts a number on it.
