The Silent wins most often in tracked Slay the Spire 2 runs, yet experienced A10 players rate the Defect strongest. Our tier list puts the data and the opinions side by side.

Slay the Spire 2 is Mega Crit's sequel to Slay the Spire, the 2019 game that popularised the roguelike deckbuilder. It entered Early Access on Steam on 5 March 2026 for Windows, Mac and Linux at $24.99, and it keeps the original's structure: build a deck from card rewards, collect relics and potions, and climb a branching map of fights, events and shops towards a boss at the end of each act.
The sequel has five playable characters. The Ironclad, the Silent and the Defect return from the first game; the Regent, who spends Stars alongside Energy, and the Necrobinder, who fights with a summoned companion called Osty, are new. Runs can be played solo or in online co-op for up to four players, with cards designed only for multiplayer.
Mega Crit updates the game in two layers: frequent beta-branch patches, and larger "Major Updates" that move the tested changes to the main branch. Major Update #2 (v0.107.1, 19 June 2026) replaced the Act 3 boss Doormaker with Aeonglass; the latest beta patch is v0.111.0 from 14 August. The studio says an alternate Act 2 and a new character are in development, and that Steam achievements will arrive with version 1.0.
