Final Fantasy Resonance is a turn-based role-playing game from Square Enix and Lancarse, released on 22 October 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam and the Microsoft Store). Square Enix bills it as the first Final Fantasy game in the HD-2D style, the pixel-art-meets-3D look of Octopath Traveler, with a suggested price of £49.99 or $49.99.
The story is rebuilt from the first season of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, a mobile game that has since shut down. Knights Rain and Lasswell of Grandshelt, joined by Fina, a girl who emerges from a shattered crystal, try to stop a group called the Sworn Six from destroying the world's elemental crystals. Unlike the mobile original, Resonance has no gacha mechanics or microtransactions.
Combat is turn-based on a visible turn order, built around elemental weaknesses and a stagger gauge that grants bonus actions. Visions, spirits of past Final Fantasy heroes such as Cloud, Tidus and Lightning, work like a job system: each party member equips one to gain new skills and passive bonuses.
