Control Resonant is Remedy Entertainment's sequel to Control (2019), developed and self-published by the Finnish studio. It launched on 24 September 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and sells for $59.99 on Steam. Remedy says you do not need to have played the original to follow it.
The lead is Dylan Faden, brother of the first game's protagonist Jesse, who wakes from a coma after the Hiss escapes the Oldest House into a Manhattan folded in on itself. Where Control was a third-person shooter set inside a single building, Resonant is a melee action RPG across a large, interconnected city: Dylan's shape-shifting weapon, the Aberrant, switches between forms such as a hammer, scythe or drill, and parts of the map let him shift his gravity to walk on walls and upturned streets.
Creative director Mikael Kasurinen said the game took seven years to make. Remedy shipped a launch hotfix (1.3.3) that lowered enemy health, and has announced an endless New Game++ mode for October and a Photo Mode for November. This hub collects AFK Journal's coverage of the game, starting with our evidence-based review of what critics and Steam players make of it.
