Valor Mortis is a first-person action soulslike from One More Level, the Polish studio behind Ghostrunner and Ghostrunner 2, published by Lyrical Games. It launched on 13 October 2026 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at $39.99, and arrived the same day on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
The setting is an alternate history in which Napoleon wins at Waterloo and a plague raises the dead across Europe. Players control William, a soldier of the Grande Armée who returns from death with supernatural powers, while Napoleon, voiced by Vincent Cassel, speaks to him throughout the campaign.
Combat mixes soulslike swordplay (blocking, parrying, dodging, lanterns as checkpoints, currency lost on death) with pistols, shotguns and rifles and three transmutation powers fired from William's left hand. The studio describes the story as roughly 20 hours long, a figure most reviews repeat.
This hub collects AFK Journal's coverage of Valor Mortis, starting with our evidence-based review, which combines critic averages from OpenCritic and Metacritic with Steam player reviews and shows the calculation behind the score. Guides on builds, patches and performance will be added here as the game is updated.
