Valheim Crossplay Explained: Every Platform, Servers and Saves
Valheim 1.0 has crossplay on every platform, PS5 and Switch 2 included. How to join with a code, set up a -crossplay server, and what happens to saves and mods.

Valheim is a collaborative survival and exploration game for 1 to 10 players from Iron Gate Studio, a Sweden-based indie team, published by Coffee Stain Publishing, the label behind Satisfactory and Deep Rock Galactic. Players are Viking warriors fighting, building and exploring their way through the tenth realm, a procedurally generated afterlife inspired by Viking culture, in the hope of earning Odin's favour.
The game launched in Early Access on PC on 2 February 2021 and reached Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on 14 March 2023. Over the Early Access years it gained three major content updates, adding biomes such as the Mistlands and the Ashlands to the original meadows, forests, swamps, mountains and plains.
Valheim 1.0 released on 9 September 2026 with the Deep North biome, achievements and new weapons, armour sets and creatures. It also arrived on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, with crossplay across every platform, and the price on Steam moved to $29.99.
On this hub, AFK Journal collects guides built on Iron Gate's own patch notes, FAQs and server documentation: crossplay and dedicated servers, what changed in each 1.0 patch, and the systems new and returning players ask about most.
