The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is CD Projekt Red's open-world role-playing game, first released in May 2015. You play Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter for hire, searching the war-torn Northern Kingdoms for his adopted daughter Ciri before the spectral riders of the Wild Hunt reach her. Two expansions followed: Hearts of Stone in 2015 and Blood and Wine in 2016.
Eleven years on, it is still one of the best-regarded games on Steam, where its Complete Edition holds an Overwhelmingly Positive rating from close to 890,000 user reviews. It has been released on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, with native PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions added later.
On 29 September 2026 the game becomes The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, a free upgrade for existing owners on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, with reworked visuals, combat animations, a new skill tree, transmogrification and cross-platform mod support. Since 25 August 2026 both expansions have been free for everyone who owns the base game, and the standalone base game is no longer sold.
