Shrek 2 Remastered is Aspyr Media's remaster of Shrek 2, the 2004 movie tie-in that Activision published and Luxoflux developed for PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube. It was announced at the ID@Xbox showcase on 20 October 2026 and launches on 10 November 2026 for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and Switch at $29.99.

The original is a four-player, squad-based action-adventure that follows the film's story from Shrek's swamp to the kingdom of Far Far Away, letting players swap between heroes such as Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and Gingy to fight and solve simple puzzles. Critics were lukewarm in 2004, with console versions scoring 70 to 72 on Metacritic, but it sold strongly and is remembered fondly as a couch co-op game.

Aspyr's version rebuilds the textures, interface and cutscenes for 4K, adds a Photo Mode and a Cheat Mode, and supports up to four players locally, online or in a mix of both. Aspyr previously handled Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection and, with Crystal Dynamics, the Tomb Raider and Legacy of Kain remasters.

This hub collects AFK Journal's coverage of the remaster: release details, PC requirements and, once it launches, what critics and players make of it.
