Planet Zoo 2 is Frontier Developments' sequel to its 2019 zoo-building management sim. It launched on 13 October 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, priced at $49.99 on Steam, and keeps the series' mix of habitat construction, guest management and animal welfare simulation.

The sequel's headline additions are fully aquatic species in aquariums, free-flying birds in aviaries, and Wildlife Reserves: separate maps where players paint biomes and release animals bred or rehabilitated in their zoos. Conservation Credits, the secondary currency, now tie the zoo and reserve layers together. Career, Sandbox and the online Franchise mode, where players trade animals with each other, all return.

Planet Zoo 2 sits alongside Planet Coaster 2 and the Jurassic World Evolution games in Frontier's line-up of creative management sims, and borrows several tools from them, including the newer path and scenery brushes. Its launch week was split: critics rated it highly, while Steam reviews slipped to Mixed as players reported crashes, Franchise mode connection problems and erratic animal behaviour, which Frontier acknowledged in its post-launch updates.

This hub collects AFK Journal's coverage of Planet Zoo 2, starting with our evidence-based review, which weighs critic scores against Steam player reviews and is rechecked as patches land.
